Real Alternative will allow you to play RealMedia files without having to install RealPlayer. All RealMedia formats (.ra .rm .rmvb .ram .rpm .rv .rp .rt .rnx .smi .smil etc.) are supported, including streaming content and RealMedia content that is embedded in webpages.

Some advantages compared to RealPlayer:

VirtuaWin

VirtuaWin is a virtual desktop manager for the Windows operating system (Win9x/ME/NT/Win2K/XP). A virtual desktop manager lets you organize applications over several virtual desktops (also called ‘workspaces’). Virtual desktops are very common in Unix/Linux, and once you get accustomed to using them, they become an essential part of a productive workflow.

VirtuaWin is designed to be simple and elegant to use yet still be highly configurable and extensible.

Arasan Chess

Arasan is a chess program for Windows and Linux. It is copyrighted, but allows free distribution, with some restrictions.

The latest version is Arasan 9.5, released in October, 2006. The Windows version runs on Windows 95 or more recent versions. The Linux version comes in source only, and requires GCC to build (version 4.0 or greater recommended).

Arasan has both a native Windows user interface and a console-based chess engine for use with Winboard or xboard.

Arasan also works with Arena,another free chess interface, and with UCI-compatible programs like Shredder.

Arasan includes an opening book with over 75,000 moves.

FileAlyzer

FileAlyzer is a tool to analyze files – the name itself was initially just a typo of FileAnalyzer, but after a few days I decided to keep it. FileAlyzer allows a basic analysis of files (showing file properties and file contents in hex dump form) and is able to interpret common file contents like resources structures (like text, graphics, HTML, media and PE).
