Notepad++ is a free source code editor (and Notepad replacement), which supports several programming languages, running under the MS Windows environment.

This project, based on the Scintilla edit component (a very powerful editor component), written in C++ with pure win32 api and STL (that ensures the higher execution speed and smaller size of the program), is under the GPL Licence.

This project is mature. However, as you can see it’s a one-man-project, there are still some bugs and missing features. If you have any question or suggestion about this project, please post them on the forums. As well, if you have any feature requests, you can always make the demand, but there’s no guarantee that I’ll implement it.

ConTEXT is a small, fast and powerful freeware text editor, developed mainly to serve as secondary tool for software developers. After years and years searching for suitable Windows text editor, I haven’t found any of them to completely satisfy my needs, so I wrote my own.

Moon Edit is a multi-user text editor: Every co-author can edit the shared document at any time, from any place, and at the same time! There’s no need to send files via FTP or to compare documents when multiple users need to make changes to it independently. Every user has their own color. Every cursor movement and text changes are simultaneously visible on the screen by all users.

“ME” uses local prediction code – the same technology used in modern video games! You can use a dedicated standalone server to share a whole directory of text files. Remote users can then edit these files using the “me” client – at the same time. This functionality can be useful for creating websites directly on the www server – which is more efficient than editing files privately and then uploading them via FTP. You could even use “ME” to run a real-time text forum

WinVi is a notepad replacement for Microsoft Windows Computers that tries to copy the functionality of the *nix editor vi. It is higly compatible with unix vi and offers some improvements like hex editing and editing files without a size limit. You are free to select the font with variable spacing and even true type fonts.

Winvi supports the unix text file format and offers automatic word completion in command modus. Furthmore you can print the texts with a choosen font type. Last but not least you are free to create macros and abbreviations for the tool to speed up processes.

Metapad is a small, fast, 32-bit Notepad replacement. It includes all of Notepad’s features and much, much more – without sacrificing any of Notepad’s speed! Plenty of features for casual use and simple programming tasks alike.
